Wing Vice Commanders

LT COLONEL RICHARD VEACH

Lt. Colonel Richard R. Veach is one of two Missouri Wing Vice Commanders of Civil Air Patrol, a non-profit, benevolent organization devoted to humanitarian activities, and by law the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

Lt. Colonel Veach’s primary duty is to assist the Missouri Wing Commander in leading more than 900 members in almost 30 units across the state in fulfilling CAP’s missions. He also serves as the Missouri Wing Standardization and Evaluation Officer.

Lt. Colonel Veach previously served as the Missouri Wing Finance Officer and as commander of the Charles R. Long Senior Squadron, where he also served as Finance Officer, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, and Professional Development Officer. He has been a mission pilot since 2011 and is currently rated as a CAP command pilot while also serving as a Mission Pilot and Check Pilot Examiner.

Lt. Colonel Veach was born in Camden, New Jersey, and raised in nearby Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University and an MBA from Ohio University. Lt. Colonel Veach is currently retired following a career that included chemical process design and various leadership roles in chemical and building products manufacturing.

Lt. Colonel Veach joined CAP in 2011 becoming a member of the Charles R. Long Senior Squadron. As a pilot, he has participated in multiple disaster assessment and missing aircraft missions. Lt. Colonel Veach has served on the North Central Region National Flight Academy staff for six years, directly assisting sixteen cadets to achieve their solo wings; is an instructor in the CAP Rated Preparatory Program training prospective pilots in association with the U.S. Air Force; and has served as a CAP Cadet Wings program mentor, assisting two Missouri Wing cadets to achieve their private pilot certificate.

Lt. Colonel Veach’s Civil Air Patrol awards include the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Wing Commander’s Commendation Award, CAP Achievement Award, Crisis Service Award, Search “Find” Ribbon, Disaster Relief Ribbon, Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Award, Grover Loening Award, Paul E. Garber Award, and the Gill Robb Wilson Award. Lt. Colonel Veach holds a master rating in Finance, a senior rating in Standardization and Evaluation, and technician ratings in Command and Operations.

Lt. Colonel Veach lives in Liberty, Missouri, with his wife Chris. They have two grown children who also live in the Kansas City area along with two grandchildren that they love to spoil.


LT COLONEL RAUN HAMILTON

Lt. Colonel Raun L. Hamilton is one of two Missouri Wing Vice Commanders of Civil Air Patrol, a non-profit, benevolent organization devoted to humanitarian activities, and by law the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

Lt. Colonel Hamilton’s primary duty is to assist the Missouri Wing Commander in leading more than 900 members in almost 30 units across the state in fulfilling CAP’s missions. He also serves as the Missouri Wing Group 5 Communications Officer, and as a Missouri Wing Alerting Officer.

Lt. Colonel Hamilton was born outside St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Jefferson College with an Associate’s degree in Electronics, then attended University of Missouri – Rolla studying towards an Electrical Engineering degree, and then transferred to University of Missouri – Columbia where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. He is retired from the broadcast engineering field having worked in commercial broadcast markets, as well as in sales and consulting to broadcast and high-end audio-visual clientele. He volunteers at a local hospital in amateur emergency communications roles.

Lt. Colonel Hamilton joined Civil Air Patrol with his son in 2005. He has served in multiple positions at the squadron, group, and wing levels, including: Springfield Regional Composite Squadron Emergency Services Officer, Communications Officer, Deputy Commander for Seniors, and Commander; Missouri Wing Group 5 Communications Officer, Deputy Commander, and Commander; Missouri Wing Assistant Director of Logistics, Director of Emergency Services Training, Director of Communications, and Chief of Staff – Missions. Lt. Colonel Hamilton holds a CAP senior pilot rating and has served on the CAP National Emergency Services Academy staff for three years.

Lt. Colonel Hamilton’s Civil Air Patrol awards include the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Meritorious Service Award, three Wing Commander’s Commendation Awards, CAP Achievement Award, Crisis Service Award, Search “Find” Ribbon, two Disaster Relief Ribbons with “V” Device, Benjamin O. Davis Jr. Award, Grover Loening Award, Paul E. Garber Award, and the Gill Robb Wilson Award. Lt. Colonel Hamilton holds master ratings in Communications, Emergency Services, and Flight Operations; a senior rating in Command; and a technician rating in Operations.

Lt. Colonel Hamilton lives in the Springfield, Missouri, area and is married to 1st Lieutenant Elizabeth Hamilton, Missouri Wing Diversity Officer. Together, they have five children and ten grandchildren.
