Wing Commander's New Year Message

January 1, 2024

New Year's Message from the Missouri Wing Commander

Happy New Year Missouri Wing members! I hope you had a joyful, relaxing and refreshing holiday season. In 2023 I enjoyed seeing the many successes and progress of our members and missions. These accomplishments fuel my motivation to serve you. I am looking forward to what we can do in 2024 in Missouri Wing Civil Air Patrol.

I want to thank each of you for your commitment to the program to include upholding the core values of Integrity, Volunteer Service, Excellent and Respect. Civil Air Patrol is not a program for everyone, we require commitment, determination, uprightness and resilience. For you to continue to be dedicated to CAP shows a reflection of excellence and I am grateful for you.

Going into 2024 I have a few charges to you:

  1. Make safety a priority: member safety, vehicle and equipment safety, personal safety. Be good stewards of the tools provided to us as well as the members we lead.

  2. Help Missouri Wing Grow: When I took command in March of 2023 I set a goal for us to grow in membership by 10% the first year. We have a little under 90 days to make that happen - we need 37 senior members and 27 cadets. I challenge you to help make this happen and if you are successful, tell me how you are doing it so I can share with the squadrons across the wing! I believe we can make this happen!

  3. Continue to train, learn, develop yourself as a CAP member: One of the best things you can do for yourself not only as a member, but as an individual is to take advantage of all CAP has to offer. The leadership, aerospace, physical fitness and character components for cadets, the professional development for senior members, ground team, mission staff and aircrew training, speciality track completion, regulation familiarity, classes, trainings, exercises. The list goes on and there is so much value to the wing and you if you take advantage of what the program offers. Through these things not only will we reach our goals for the wing, but it will shape you into a more successful individual.

  4. Keep up the esprit de corps, motivation and enthusiasm you have for the program and our fellow members. We are one CAP and should be working together as a team to achieve our missions and goals. I am proud to be on your team and am motivated by your enthusiasm, I hope you are too!

  5. Lastly, let’s not forget to have fun, make new friends, and enjoy the opportunities before us in this amazing program.

I foresee this to be an exceptional year, but it cannot be done without amazing members like you. I am excited to see what 2024 brings for Missouri Wing!
